A Travellerspoint blog

One week away!

Lots to do...

This time next week, we'll all be somewhere over the Atlantic Ocean...Patti and April are flying on a different airline than Andy and me, and we will have to find them at Schipol without our cell phones. Should be interesting! We'll be renting our car from Hertz then heading to The Hague, which is the seat of the Dutch government (although Amsterdam is the capital). Lots to do in The Hague (also called Den Haag, or 's-Gravenhage), but mostly we'll be checking out my old digs - Rigolettostraat (where I grew up), Scheveningen (on the North Sea, where we would go for italian ice and frites & mayonnaise), driving to Waaldek shopping center to (hopefully) find our old Chinese-Indonesian restaurant where we ate weekly. We'll be staying at the Promenade hotel (100% smoke-free, gotta love that!), which is close to the Scheveningen beach and the beautiful duins where we used to ride our bikes and walk. Many of my friends stayed in the Promenade while they were waiting for their furniture shipment to arrive from the States. We didn't stay there (we were at the Bel-Air hotel), which is still in business! Might need to stop by for a peach melba, one of our favorite desserts when we were there as kids ;-) (I know I'm making Mark and David jealous already!)
